Drop by drop

It has been a long journey
all the way from sky ,
where clouds formed
only to scatter
with dust , smoke ,
occasional sunshine
across all that
earth could ever paint ,
until all that
remained was only
frozen snow ,
which melted
drop by drop ,
drifting towards
an unknown
destination ,
through layers of
trust and distrust ,
respect and disrespect,
with an ultra-alert responsiveness
to the undulating
and harsh terrain
of earth .
